Georgian Wine Tasting Held in Shanghai
With financial support from the National Wine Agency and organised by its contracted Chinese marketing company, Dragon Trail International, a Georgian wine presentation was held in Shanghai.
The event aimed to raise awareness of Georgian wine and support its promotion in the People’s Republic of China.
Approximately 30 representatives of the local media and wine industry attended the Georgian wine presentation. Guests had the opportunity to learn about the ancient history of Georgian winemaking, its unique traditions and contemporary wine culture.
Shanghai is the main financial and economic center of the People’s Republic of China and serves as a key platform for establishing new trade ties across Asia.
One of the National Wine Agency’s main areas of activity is the diversification of export markets for Georgian wine.
To raise awareness of Georgian wine and increase exports, presentations of this kind are particularly important in a country that is one of Georgia’s strategic markets. China is among the top five export destinations for Georgian wine, and an active marketing campaign has been underway there since 2013.
According to data for January-August of this year, nearly 2.2 million litres of wine were exported from Georgia to the People’s Republic of China, representing a 7% increase compared with the same period last year.
