In order to increase the competitiveness of alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia, the relevant services of the LEPL National Wine Agency regularly conduct quality control of Georgian wine and other alcoholic beverages.
During the second quarter of the current year, 61 inspection controls were conducted in 24 companies to verify the compliance of batches of alcoholic beverage samples submitted for certification. Of the 177 samples taken, violations were identified in 8 samples from 3 companies.
Four state supervision inspections were conducted in one company to determine the compliance of the wine production process with the requirements established by the legislation of Georgia. No violations were found in any of the 4 samples.
Within the framework of domestic market control, 23 facilities were inspected. Of the 34 samples from 16 companies, violations were identified in 14 samples from 10 companies.
In the Economic Clearance Zone, inspections were carried out by the international auditing companies "Bureau Veritas" and "SGS" in 45 companies. Of the 127 samples taken, violations were identified in 3 samples from 3 companies.
The Agency’s Permanent Tasting Commission conducted 68 tastings for the organoleptic testing of alcoholic beverages. A total of 3,301 samples were submitted for tasting, of which 121 failed the test, while 3,180 received a positive evaluation.
It is noteworthy that, compared to the same period last year, the number of violations has decreased, indicating the effectiveness of the wine quality control system.
