Conference Held at the National Youth Palace in Tbilisi Within the Framework of National Wine Day
Participants of the conference are discussing the progress and future plans of the scientific programme “Research on Georgian Vine and Wine Culture”, within the framework of which the international scientific community recognised Georgia as the cradle of wine in 2017.
The conference agenda also includes discussions on the current state of the global wine sector, existing challenges, and the specific characteristics of international wine markets.
The conference brings together representatives of the Georgian wine industry, scientists, and Georgian and international wine professionals, including Director General of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) John Barker; Head of the Scientific Project “Research on Georgian Vine and Wine Culture”, Professor David Maghradze; Director General of the Georgian National Museum, Academician David Lortkipanidze; Professor University of Toronto Stephen Batiuk; Professor University of Milan Gabriele Cola; Professor of Geisenheim University Gergely Szolnoki; Masters of Wine Debra Meiburg, Lisa Perrotti-Brown and Konstantin Baum; wine expert and author Robert Joseph, and others.
The conference was officially opened by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili.
Participants of the event were welcomed by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songulashvili, and Director General of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) John Barker.
