27.04.2026

The document defines the principles and conditions related to the cultivation and restoration-renewal of a commercial vineyard.

The cultivation of a commercial vineyard includes planning, selection of varieties and rootstocks, soil preparation, planting seedlings, and other agrotechnical measures necessary for the care and development of the vineyard, which ensure appropriate productivity.

The restoration/renewal of a commercial vineyard includes the planting-replacement of at least 50% of the existing vines, as well as the frequenting, grafting with other varieties.

In order to obtain approval, the applicant must submit to the National Wine Agency the documentation specified in the Rules for Cultivating a commercial Vineyard. (https://wine.gov.ge/Ge/Files/Download/15604)

The Agency is authorised to refuse to grant permission for the cultivation of a commercial vineyard if the applicant fails to submit the complete documentation specified in this Rule or the submitted documents do not comply with the requirements set forth in this Rule.

.It is noteworthy that with the amendments to the “Law on Vine and Wine”, from May 1, 2026, the cultivation of a commercial vineyard will be possible only on the basis of the written consent of the National Wine Agency. The goal of the legislative amendments is to present high-quality wine, produced from high-quality grapes, to international markets.
