Georgian Wine Presented at the “Salon Monte Carlo Gastronomie” Festival in Monaco
With the support of the National Wine Agency and the Agency’s contracting company Le Pont Caucasien, a presentation of Georgian wine was held in Monaco at the gastronomy and wine festival “Salon Monte Carlo Gastronomie”.
Over the course of the four-day festival, visitors had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with wines of various labels from 10 Georgian wine-producing companies and small wineries. Georgian wine at the festival was presented by oenologist Ilia Kakhoidze, who works in France and is the head of the company Le Pont Caucasien.
The 28th edition of the festival was attended by thousands of visitors, including both wine consumers and representatives of the commercial and HoReCa sectors, which is of great importance for supporting the promotion of Georgian wine.
“Salon Monte Carlo Gastronomie” is one of the most significant events in the region, and participation in it contributes to increasing awareness of Georgian wine not only in Monaco, but also in France.
One of the main areas of activity of the National Wine Agency is the promotion and enhancement of awareness of Georgian wine in international markets. Within the framework of supporting the promotion of Georgian wine, since 2013 the Agency has been implementing advertising and marketing campaigns aimed at market diversification, including in such a winemaking-renowned country as France, where demand for Georgian wine—especially Qvevri wine—is steadily growing. According to data from the first 11 months of the current year, 119,000 bottles of wine were exported from Georgia to France, which is 80% higher than the figure for the same period last year.
