The author of the article, American Master of Wine Lisa Perrotti-Brown, who has been working in the wine industry for more than 25 years, visited Western Georgia in October of this year within the framework of cooperation between the National Wine Agency and the American company “Big Sky Ranch Inc.”
Lisa Perrotti-Brown visited Imereti and Racha, where she became acquainted with the diverse Georgian wines and Georgian winemaking traditions. A special tasting was also held in Tbilisi, where Lisa Perrotti-Brown sampled around 50 wines from various wine companies.
“Over the past fifteen years, I have visited Kakheti several times; after my first trip to Imereti and Racha, the differences between the regions of Georgia became even more evident. Western Georgia tends toward acidity, diversity, and finesse, influenced by the maritime climate, higher elevations, lighter maceration, and small-scale wineries,” — writes the author.
In the article, Lisa Perrotti-Brown discusses evaluations of the ten best wines she selected from those tasted in Western Georgia.
It is noteworthy that American Master of Wine Lisa Perrotti-Brown also visited Georgia in July of this year. Following that visit, she published an article in The Wine Palate in September titled “Georgian Wines Step Onto the Global Stage,” which covered her assessments of Georgian wines.
The online publication “The Wine Palate” includes a database of wines from around the world evaluated by experts, along with regularly updated reviews.
The United States represents one of the strategic export markets for Georgian wine. With the support of the National Wine Agency, the targeted marketing activities carried out since 2013 have significantly contributed to the growth of both awareness and exports of Georgian wine in the U.S. market.
